Becki Hesedahl - Biography

Paint What You Love

“I love the juicy, tasty, luminosity of transparent watercolor paint. I love to experiment with contrasts of colors, light and dark and with textures. ”

Becki Hesedahl is an artist living and working in Salem, Oregon. Painting primarily in watercolor she also works in oil and cold wax medium.

Becki is a Fine Artist who has been capturing the beauty of the Willamette Valley and beyond for more than 20 years. Living in SE Alaska for two years extended her range of subjects  — the big water, nearby mounts and animal life. She also traveled to Norway several years ago. She visited many of the beautiful and scenic areas which she also painted.  Being of Norwegian heritage she realized that one of the reasons she fell in love with Alaska is that it is scenically similar to Norway. No matter how she loves Alaska and Norway her home is Oregon. She is a fifth generation Oregonian.

A favorite quote found on a brick in the Salem Capital Mall — "I don't mind dying, but I hate to leave Oregon."

Her primary media is transparent watercolor, though she does create new pieces using oil paints and cold wax. Throughout all of Becki’s artwork her favorite themes are the many facets of nature — florals, birds, rocks, gardens, water and trees..

In addition to belonging to several art groups in the Pacific Northwest, she has taught watercolor classes in Salem through Chemeketa Community College and The Art Department.  She shows frequently in group shows around the area. Her work can be seen regularly at River Gallery in Independence, Oregon.
